MY STORY

Hi . . . I'm Joshua, The Proud Pioneer.

So where did the Proud Pioneer name come from?  It's a name I picked for two reasons.  First, I'm a proud Alumni of Glenville State College (now Glenville State University) in Glenville, WV - where our mascot was the brave and proud Pioneer.  Secondly, as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I spent a lot of my life ashamed of who I was.  But that time is gone, and I've become proud of who I am . . . and I'd like to Pioneer that mentality with others.

Pioneers were also unafraid of a challenge.   If you know me, you know I'll take on any task or challenge, even if I have no idea what I'm doing.  I know I'll figure it out along the way, make mistakes, screw some stuff up, but keep trying until I figure it out.  You'll see a lot of my mistakes on here - I share those so you don't make them too!

Finally, I want to this to be a Village of creators - other LGBTQ+ pioneers and our allies.  Too often we don't support each other - but this will be a place to celebrate our creativity, our passions, our adventures and our Village!
