Joshua's Semi-Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies

About the Recipe

Learn to make these cookies, and you will be the hit at every party, birthday celebration or night you just need to indulge. After you master these, and want to change it up a bit, to make White Chocolate Macadamia cookies - eliminate the chocolate chips and replace with 3 cups white chocolate chips and 3 cups chopped macadamia nuts!

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups plain flour

  • 2 tsps salt

  • 2 tsps baking soda

  • 4 sticks unsalted butter

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar

  • 4 eggs

  • 2 tsps pure vanilla extract

  • 6 cups (1 1/2 20 ounce bag) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1


Preheat oven to 375° F (350° F if convection)


In a large mixing bowl sift together flour, salt and baking soda. Set aside.


Step 2


In a medium sauce-pan, slowly melt butter. Do not allow to separate.


Once melted, remove from heat and stir in granulated sugar, light brown sugar, and vanilla. Ensure mixture is fairly cool - then add eggs (you don't want to cook the eggs!). Stir to combine.


Step 3


Pour liquid mixture into dry/flour mixture and stir to incorporate. Again, make sure mixture is cool - then add chocolate chips (you don't want them to melt!). If you like extra chocolaty chip cookies - just add both full bags!



Step 4


Use an ice cream scoop to scoop 6 cookies on a cookie sheet. After they are all on the cookie sheet, use the palm of your freshly washed hand to flatten them to half the scoop height (otherwise they will NEVER get done in the middle). If they lose their circle shape, you can shape them at this point.


Step 5


Bake for 12 minutes. Allow to cool 2 minutes on the cookie sheet after removing from the oven. Remove to a wire rack (or aluminum foil) to cool. Enjoy!
